We've Got A Seat For You - Selecting the right saddle can be a daunting task. There are hundreds of models ranging from titanium-rail race versions to plush comfort saddles. And, a wide range of materials and designs are used to enhance comfort including gel, springs, foam, special cutaway tops and gender-specific shapes. For recreational riding where you sit upright and pedal at a regular pace, a medium-width model with plenty of cushioning is usually best. If you ride more strenuously over longer distances, pedaling at a fast rate, a narrow seat is usually better because wider ones can cause chafing on your inner thighs. Keep in mind that, with any saddle, it takes a few rides to break your body into the saddle and usually, the more frequently you ride, the sooner you'll be comfortable. If you're still hurting after a few rides, however, it's an indication that the seat isn't right for your anatomy and you should try different types until you find one that works.
